Story
The growing number of discarded tires in Accra poses environmental and health risks, contributing to land and water pollution. Establishing a tire shredding center will support sustainable waste management, reduce environmental impact, and provide raw materials for recycling and repurposing industries. The project aligns with Ghana’s environmental sustainability goals and fosters job creation and community engagement.
Project Goals
- Establish a fully operational tire shredding facility in Accra.
- Process an estimated 500 tons of scrap tires per year to reduce environmental waste.
- Supply shredded tire material for recycling into products like rubberized asphalt, playground surfaces, and building insulation.
- Create local job opportunities and promote community awareness around sustainable waste management.
